The Layout
Dogbone Creek Falls
A NSWGR freelance exhibition layout, with emphasis on 19th Century steam and rolling stock.
Layout Description
The name of the layout tells how the layout is designed. The layout features many rising tracks to emphasise gradients in the prototype. There are hidden sidings for storage of the many different trains operating on the layout. Landscaping includes a waterfall, a small lake, goods sidings, Dogbone Creek station. A planned feature is a sawmill based on G W McGuire & Sons at Tomarong – all hardwoods for building construction. Some of the timber was transported to steel mills at Port Kembla for use in mines as pit props.
To create rolling stock of the 19th and early 20th Century requires scratch building and kit bashing using current wagons and coaches.
Light weight foam and aluminium construction to minimise weight for exhibitions. The end modules are curved. The layout is under construction, ready for its first showing in 2024.
