Layout Description
Mosquito Creek portrays a small Queensland coastal town at the mouth of Mosquito Creek. The railway services the main town and three smaller areas, mainly linked by single track, and picking up and unloading goods to the various industries in these areas.
These include Grain storage, Cattle/Sheep loading/unloading, Sawmill logs in and wood products out, Boat repairs with slipway, and the main wharf area at Mosquito Creek with its large shed housing a cold storage/seafood area and general goods storage. A small coastal freighter is alongside unloading pipes.
Goods trains are usually short and can be mixed trains when passenger traffic is light. Passenger traffic is usually school runs in the morning/afternoons, and shopping runs to and from the main shopping area. Passenger trains are usually catered for by Railcars, with the occasional Diesel Loco and carriages.
Locomotives are restricted to the 60 ton Q.R., models, mainly due to the bridge limits imposed on the areas bridges.
