Hills Model Railway Society
The Layout
The principal activities of the Hills Model Railway Society Inc. is to promote the hobby of model railway construction, operation and history to society members, public and statutory bodies, to attend and hold displays at model exhibitions and other venues from time to time.
Five layouts in club rooms operating, Australian, American, British, Japanese and European prototype model railways, covering the 3 common scales, HO, OO and N.
Layout Description
The current HO exhibition layout is TULONG:
Tulong presents an imaginary region with club member’s steam and diesel locomotives, motor rail and rolling stock on show being from the present day to as far back as 1950.
Imagine travelling by rail along the east of NSW and see if you can recall aspects of this new layout.
Since the initial presentation at the HMRS 38th exhibition in 2017, as a layout under development, viewers will see our progress and how construction was undertaken.
With digital command control (DCC), the operational concept behind the layout integrates Central Traffic Control. Programmed for DCC operated automatic route control, with user choice of DCC or alternately direct current (DC) locomotive operation.
Seven CTC modules allow multi-user operation across the main and secondary lines, fiddle yards plus turntable to locomotive shed.
