Club Layout
Layout Description
“Kasino”
Kasino is a HO layout (1: 87) that was once a multiple show layout put together into its current format. The layout covers a 10m x 10m area in the club and is LDMRC’s largest layout. Kasino contains 5 train stations, 3 train yards with 300 plus meters of track traveling to multiple train stations, rural areas and industrial estates.
Kasino is now built into the facilities and has had multiple refurbishments / changes over its 30 years of use. The layout is used for point-to-point destination use during LDMRC’s running nights, allowing the members to drive the trains prototypically delivering rolling stock to various industries around the layout. Kasino is our main layout that the majority of the members drive on.
Kasino is capable of both DCC and DC, utilising Digikeijs DR5000, NCE command stations for DCC and standard hand controllers for DC. LDMRC uses the Z21 app for the DR5000 and the Engine Driver app for NCE to control the motion of the trains around the layouts.
“Bunyip Gully”
Bunyip Gully is a HO and HOn3 layout designed with 3 main lines in an oval configuration. The layout size is 3.6m in length and 2.4m in width and has 2 train stations with an industrial estate and a village connected via a road. The mountain range in the middle separates both sides of the layout to give a larger perspective feel.
The layout is mobile and is mainly used for testing and programing locomotives. The track is capable of both DCC and DC, utilising Digikeijs DR5000, NCE command stations for DCC and standard hand controllers for DC. LDMRC uses the Z21 app for the DR5000 and the Engine Driver app for NCE to control motion of the trains around the layouts.
“Lake Patrick”
Lake Patrick is our n scale (1:160) layout, designed with 2 main lines branching off into multiple different spur lines to different locations that return to its original location at its main station “Lake Patrick”. The layout has 3 train stations and 3 different train yards for setting up and storing rolling stock. The trains transitioning between towns travel through the countryside using 2-degree inclines throughout the layout.
The layout allows long and short trains to be run through suburban and rural areas with 200 plus meters of track to drive on in an area of 6m x 6m. The layout is built into the club’s facilities and can be operated with DCC and DC. LDMRC uses the Z21 app for the DR5000 (DCC) and the Engine Driver app for NCE (DCC), as well as standard hand controllers for DC users, to control motion of the trains around the layouts.
