Queensland & New South Wales
Layout Description
Westgate is a QR junction station, which tranships freight from NSWR wagons to QGR wagons.
Both standard and narrow gauge tracks operate separate to each other and have their own network. Each network operates on a single-track main line with other crossing loops stations.
Both networks have various industries/sidings and share a transhipping shed, gantry crane, loading banks and a cattle race much like Clapham many years ago.
The layout has the ability to run both shunt and set train operations.
There are two types of prototype operations system used on the layout to test the operator’s skills on marshalling a train or working a shunt train.
Rollingstock is a mix of RTR, kits and scratch build. Buildings are either kits or scratch built with many being constructed from photos. Many road vehicles have been kit bashed to reflect services provided in the 60’s.
