The Layout
Silverton Northern
The Silverton Northern is a free-lanced prototype double deck layout depicting the D&RGW narrow gauge branch to Silverton, Colorado in 1941.
Layout Description
Silverton is the focal point of the layout, with the D&RGW operating on the lower level track, whilst the Silverton Northern RR operates on the upper level and connects to the lower level on a 4% grade.
Trains run on an ad hoc basis past scratchbuilt prototype structures and scenery that is meant to capture the look of the San Juan Mountains.
